Sunflowers still blooming at 139 March Rd

 October 12, 2020

Today is Thanksgiving Day.

Our family usually gather in big groups, now it is my small family that is gathering over turkey. We will have lots of leftover and I wish we have a bigger freezer.

Last year, we harvested few heads of big mammoth sunflowers. We have sold many within ottawa gardening friends, and many were given for free.

In our farm, we decided to create a long strip of pollinator garden facing the road, you can see the power line. It was almost a very bad soil, and i was not sure if it will make it. Many othe flowers died in this area, so my hope is not really that high. Volunteers came and care for them, many remove the weeds around the sunflower, Bella spend mornings watering them.

My hope is that local food movement will help us regenerate this abandoned farm to its former glory, as Brennans farm.
