The Wind of Change at Sweet William Farms

May 23, 2020
Ottawa City, Ontario Canada

Sweet William Farms

We are now at Day 23 on the farm. Lots of Challenges we encounter, but one of them is wind.
Our canopy has been blown twice and today, I saw small pots flying around.

The shed bent down, the big umbrella fly off, it is one windy day.

Pots from table were flying!

This blue canopy was fix yesterday and now it is ready to fly again...

We have to adopt to this lands nature or we fail.

Switch to Cucubitacaea and  Fabaceae family, Ipomea family.

Anything Solanum may need to be sheltered and we do not have time.

Time to re-evaluate, and switch to Plan B.

Ottawa City, Ontario Canada

Sweet William Farms

Our progress report:

The simple plan is ever evolving, so come on and journey with us. This barren wasteland will be converted into thriving ecosystem of food and seeds.

We bullet form them into parts:
  1. Pollinator Garden
  2. Food Bank Farm
  3.  Youth Farmers
  4. Children Lead Composting Station . Worm Feeding Station
  5.  Hills of Rejects
  6.  Permaculture Initiative
  7. Food Forest
  8. Herb Gardens
  9. Community Farmers of Kanata
Yesterday, we manage to set up a temporary seedling shelter, a portable carport and Sweet William purchase a sweet red wagon to transport seedlings to our customers at the farm gate.

Much to do, more sunsets to enjoy, challenges abound.

I also added the City of Ottawa instructions for community gardens. Since our common plots are community farmers, we will follow COVID 19 Protocols to keep our community safe. It will be posted under Files on our Facebook group.

The Red Mail Box and the Red truck

May 2, 2020 - Saturday, Sunny day

Kanata Ontario Canada

It was a very nice weekend, sunny for most part. I have the family coming to the farm, the kids were task to pick up garbage which did not last very long until they sat down and play on their phone. Why did I bother bringing chairs?

The place has no electricity, so eventually, their batteries died and I get to boss them around to rake again.

Tessie was a machine, she manage to clear so many bur(1) and rake an area under the tree. We eat and enjoyed the glorious day.

Kyle decided to paint the mailbox and I love it painted. He designed it plaid red and black, like a nice farmer plaid. Well, I want it read. hahaha, just like my truck. So anyways, he decided to give it a red coat.

So, red mailbox it is and I am loving it.

The kids don't know it, but they are trained to be future farmers. They will be feed and they will feed the future generation. It is my hope that I am planting the right seed in their hearts, that food brings us together.
